Crystal and Product FAQ's

How does crystal grading affect pricing?

Crystal grading directly impacts the pricing of crystals. Higher-grade crystals that exhibit exceptional quality, such as perfect clarity, vibrant color, and unique formations, are generally priced higher due to their rarity and aesthetic appeal. On the other hand, lower-grade crystals, which may have imperfections or less-desirable attributes, are usually priced lower.

What are the different grades of crystals?

Grade A: These are considered the highest quality crystals available. They have excellent clarity, vibrant colors, and few to no visible flaws or inclusions. Grade A crystals are often rare and highly sought after.

Grade B: Crystals in this category are of good quality but may have slight imperfections or less clarity compared to Grade A crystals. They can still be visually appealing and energetically potent, making them popular choices.

Grade C: Crystals in Grade C have more noticeable imperfections, such as visible inclusions, color zoning, or irregular shapes. While they may not meet the standards of higher grades, Grade C crystals can still possess unique energies and are often more affordable.

Tumbled or Polished Grade: These crystals have been tumbled or polished to enhance their appearance and smooth out any rough edges. They may come in different grades based on the quality of the original crystal and the quality of the tumbling/polishing process.

It's important to note that grading can be subjective, and individual sellers may have their own grading system or variations within these categories. Additionally, some crystals may have specific grading terms unique to their characteristics. It's always a good idea to ask the seller for clarification if you are unsure about the grading of a particular crystal.

Does Bella Luna ethically source crystals?

  • At Bella Luna we use the term “Consciously Sourced” this means that we do our best to investigate our suppliers to insure they meet our ethical standards.
  • NO crystal supplier can guarantee ALL of their crystals are “Ethically Sourced” unless they are mining the crystals themselves or own the mine and even then, the term “Ethics” is subjective without a proper definition it means nothing. What is ethical to me, may not be the same to you. I had a Peruvian supplier who claimed to be committed to ethically sourcing and ethical labor practices, but on further investigation I discovered he was having his employees carve Malachite without any personal protective equipment (PPE). He said that was “Ethical” while I did not agree.
  • Not all claims of ethical sourcing can be automatically trusted. "Greenwashing" or false claims of ethical practices can occur in any industry, including the crystal trade. The decision to purchase crystals ultimately depends on your personal values and beliefs. While the crystal industry does face challenges, supporting conciously sourcing sellers and initiatives can contribute to positive change. Additionally, purchasing from reputable sources can support fair trade practices and help raise awareness about ethical issues in the industry. If you choose to purchase crystals, it's essential to approach it with mindfulness and make informed decisions.
  • At Bella Luna I do my best to research my suppliers, ask questions about the conditions of the mines and ensure they meet my ethical standards. This is why I don't carry ALL minerals, but I will not lie to you and say I can make a guarantee, because I cannot, and this is why I use the term consciously sourced.

  • Are your sphere stands and grid boards mass produced?

All of the wood sphere stands (lighted and non-lighted) and our crystal grid boards are all handmade in the USA by a small business.

Will crystals heal my health problems?

At Bella Luna we love all the “Woo Woo” and using crystals for their metaphysical properties, but we will NEVER recommend you use crystals as a replacement for proper medical and mental health treatment or concerns. Crystals are best used with intention-based practices and as complementary to any medical or mental health treatment. You can absolutely appreciate, respect, and understand modern medicine and love all the “Woo Woo” stuff too!

My crystal lost some small flakes during transit, is it damaged?

It is very common for some minerals that are very low on the Mohs Hardness scale to experience some flaking during transit. Minerals like Halite or Selenite for example. This does not mean your crystal is damaged and is part of the shipping process to find a few small flakes, but chunks the size of a dime or larger should not break off.

Do I need to cleanse my crystals when I receive them?

This is completely up to you! Some people practice cleansing crystals using smoke or water or even sound, but some people just collect them for fun! We do suggest for most minerals you avoid using water to cleanse them unless you are sure you have a mineral that won’t be damaged by water. Many minerals can be damaged by placing them in water.

What is the difference between Raw, Tumbled , and Polished Crystals?

Raw Crystals: Raw crystals are in their natural state as they are extracted from the earth. They have not undergone any significant alterations in terms of shape or surface texture. Raw crystals often have rough surfaces, irregular shapes, and may still contain impurities or matrix from the surrounding rock. They showcase the crystal's natural form and provide a direct connection to the Earth's energy.

Tumbled Crystals: Tumbled crystals have gone through a process of tumbling, where they are placed in a machine and rotated with abrasive materials to smooth out their rough edges. This process results in a polished and rounded appearance. Tumbled crystals have a smooth surface and a consistent shape. They are often used for decorative purposes, crystal grids, or as pocket stones due to their comfortable feel.

Polished Crystals: Polished crystals undergo a more extensive process of cutting, shaping, and polishing to enhance their appearance and reveal their inner beauty. They are carefully carved into various shapes, such as spheres, points, hearts, or pyramids. The polishing process involves buffing the crystal's surface to achieve a shiny and reflective finish. Polished crystals are highly valued for their aesthetic appeal and are commonly used for display, jewelry-making, and energy work.

While the overall properties and energetic qualities of a crystal remain relatively consistent regardless of its form, the physical differences between raw, tumbled, and polished crystals can influence their tactile experience, appearance, and versatility of use. It ultimately depends on personal preference and the specific intentions or purposes you have for the crystal.

My order shipped, but my tracking number is not updating.

At Bella Luna we understand how frustrating this is, but unfortunately this is beyond our control. We offer two shipping options, UPS and USPS. It is very common for USPS to NOT scan your package until it is delivered. You may notice that when you check your tracking number it may not show any updates.

Please allow up to 14 business days for your package to arrive, if after 14 business days your package has not arrived, please contact us by replying to your order confirmation email. If you like being able to guarantee you can watch your package through the delivery process, we suggest you select UPS shipping as they are much better at scanning the tracking numbers throughout the shipment process.

My crystal was lost or damaged in transit will you refund me?

The process for refunding with insurance claims can take up to 60 days. If your order was $99 or less you have the option of adding shipping insurance. Search our store for “Shipping Insurance” to find the option. Bella Luna is a small business and we unfortunately do not have funds to fully refund packages that were lost or damaged by shipping carriers.

Occasionally boxes get delayed and are not delivered in the shipping carriers estimated delivery window. Shipping carriers will typically make us wait 14 business days after the estimated delivery date before we can make a claim.

Will I recieve a tracking number for my order?

Yes! As soon as your order ships you will receive a shipping confirmaiton email with your tracking number. Please know we can NOT guarantee USPS will scan your number frequntly enough to track it. They commonly only scan the number at the delivery scan. UPS is much better and scanning packages.During peak shipping times, such as after a Discount Sale or during peak shopping season September-December please allow up to 10 business days for your order to ship. We aim to ship most orders within 72 hours.

If I placed two orders in the same day can you combine the orders into one box for shipping so I can save money on shipping?

On occasion we can do this with smaller orders, or orders that might fit into a flat rate USPS Medium or USPS Large box, but are heavier. It might come out cheaper than what you initially paid.

Orders with larger heavier crystals, it is never cheaper than what you are quoted by our system and infact it is usually more expensive than what you were charged if you place two seperate orders but want them shipped together. So we are not able to unfortunatly save money on shipping by combining orders for larger or heavier crystals.
